Abstract
The purpose of this research is to analyze the turn taking used by Soimah on Program of Dangdut Academy Asia 2 Indosiar, which every conversation always occurs the turn and the taking to make conversation flows well. In this case, the aims of this research are: 1) to identify the turn taking types are used by Soimah on the Program Dangdut Academy Asia 2 Indosiar, 2) to analyze the types of turn taking occur in utterances by Soimah on Program of Dangdut Academy Asia 2 Indosiar. The method of this research use qualitative method. The research questions are answered in analytical description. The data collection turn taking types is picked up randomly then classified based on the same kind. The turn taking types is analyzed by using Yule theory to see the turn taking system which mostly occurs in utterances by Soimah. The result of this research shows that there are twenty four data collected from Soimah utterances, those collected data resulted five types of turn taking. There are five types of turn taking: pauses, overlaps, backchannels, conversational style, and adjacency pairs and all types found in that conversation.
