Abstract

The language phenomena often occur in society, one of them is Code mixing. According to Wardhaugh (1986:103) Code Mixing is the use of two languages together to the extent that the speakers change form language to another in course of single utterance. Now, Code Mixing is in trend especially Indonesian-English mixing. Based on the previous background, this research tries to analyze about the form of Indonesian-English Code Mixing. Researcher took the data from “Aneka Yess” magazine published in February, May, and October 2008 as object research because this magazine is a source of information needed about language. The result of this study is expected will be beneficial in providing and increasing the knowledge about code mixing that used by society and can be used as an additional reference for discussion of sociolinguistics study especially code mixing. This study is limited to make description of sociolinguistic feature of Indonesian-English code mixing in Aneka Yess magazine published February, May and October. In review of related to literature in this research, researcher quoted the opinions of some expert that is relevant to her study. They were about Sociolinguistics, Bilingualism, Code Mixing and History of Magazine. The methodology of this research was qualitative descriptive. The methodology is obtaining and analyzing the data of the study contains the nature of the data, research instrument, the source of the data, the selection of the data, the data and the step of the data. They function to describe how the theories are applied into practice in analyses. Based on the data analysis, researcher draws the conclusion of the use of Indonesian-English code mixing in Aneka Yess magazine published Feb, May and Oct 2008. Researcher indentifies there are six types of code mixing in Aneka Yess magazine. First of all is word, researcher only find six form of word, there are: Noun, Verb, Adverb, Adjective, Conjunction and Exclamation. Second is Phrase. Third is Word Reduplication. Fourth is Hybrid. Fifth is Idiom. The last is Clause. Researcher also reason use Indonesian-English Code Mixing in Aneka Yess magazine, namely to show solidarity or familiarity, to show prestige or pride and to show relax.
