                Abstract

                The writer is interested in conducting a research which is entitled “An Error Analysis of Recount Text Made by Students of Eighth Grade of SMP PROKLAMASI Balong Bendo” The statements of the problem are: (1) what are the types of errors in recount text made by the eighth grade of SMP Proklamasi Balong Bendo?, (2) what are the dominant errors made by the eighth grade of SMP Proklamasi Balong Bendo in written recount text?. The objectives of this research are: (1) to find out the types of errors in written recount text, (2) to identify the dominant errors on made recount text. The research design that was used in this study is descriptive research. The result of the analysis shows that: (1) the types errors in recount text made by students of eighth grade of SMP Proklamasi Balong Bendo are omission, addition, misformation, and misordering. (2) In term of each type errors, the errors of misformation 54 occurrences (30,6 %), errors of addition 23 occurrences (13,06 %), errors of omission 87 occurrences (49,4 %), and errors of misorder 12 occurrences (6,8 %), the dominant error of students recount text is omission and the least is misordering.
