Abstract

This research attempts to discuss about the conflict which is appear in novel Great Gatsby written by Scott F. Fitzgerald. This research aims to find the conflict that related to the liberal feminism thought of Daisy, and thedevelopment of Daisy’s thought seen from Feminism. This research uses theory of conflict and liberal feminism, this study uses descriptive qualitative method. The result of this study is researcher found that latent conflict was founded in the early life of Daisy and in her conflict with her husband, then overt conflict was founded in Daisy’s conflict with Gatsby. Daisy also finally reveals her liberal feminism thought without realize it . She got many pressure by her environment, especially by Tom and Gatsby. They both said to her if they love her. They try to influence her. In fact, Daisy wants to be free to decide what she wants to decide. Finally she can express her feeling, and actually bravely is needing when expressing something.
