                Abstract

                Key words: Writing procedure text, Picture Series. This research is a classroom action research, that deals with the use of picture series to increase the students writing procedure text at tenth grade of MA Al hikmah Bangil. The focus of the teaching learning is based on the problem occurred at tenth grade of MA Alhiknah Bangil. The main problems are the students are confused to start writing bacause they did not know to express their idea, and the avarage score of the students is below standard in writing procedure text. And the indicators of success in this study is seen from the avarage score of students in the post test of lerning process in writing procedure text which is 75. The research problem of this study were: (1) How does the implementation of picture series in teaching writing.(2) How does picture series improve students ability in writing procedure text. The objective of the study were: (1) To describe the implementation of picture series in teaching process.(2) To describe the picture series in improving the students ability in writing procedure text. The result of this study showed that (1) The implementation of picture series in teaching procedure text is effective to use because it can attract the students and motivate them in writing, the implementation of picture series are as follows, discus the topic, saw the picture series to the students, the students write the procedure text based on the picture, give the score to the students writing task (2) The students writing ability in procedure text after using picture series improve in each aspect, and the average score of the students in the first cycle is 68 and the average score in the second cycle was 75. In conclusion, the implementation of the picture series can improve the students’ abilIty in writing procedure text.
