                Abstract

                Key Words: Love. Discussed in this thesis is The Language Styles used by Teenagers in Expressing Love via Short Messages. It deals with short messages from some teenagers’ mobile phone in inbox and outbox. And the object of the study is the some teenagers. It observes the language and the type of love in teenagers via short messages. The review of related literature in this study is about language variety, love variety and either topics that related to it. Then the word formation process description (clipping, acronym, onomatopoeia, contraction, and reduplication). The research methodology is qualitative descriptive. The procedure carried out in this study as follows, the data sets are selected by select to some messages in inbox and outbox of teenagers’ mobile phone and analysis by using coding, classifying, and interpreting techniques. At the last, there are some language varieties and type of love are used by teenagers in their short messages, how does the short message language become phenomena in teenagers’ live that is found. Their short message languages have dominant characteristics namely many uncommon acronyms and clippings Indonesian words, Javanese found in their short message. Their short messages show that it can make their love going to effectively and successfully in their life.
