As far as the researcher’s knowledge, the analysis of “The affectiveness of Socio-drama Method improving student’s reading ability” is still difficult to find, the researcher formulates the statement of the research, socio-drama method is effective in improving student’s reading ability. The objective of research is to find out whether Socio-drama method can efectively in improving students’ reading ability. This research uses experimental design, it is suitable with this research, the subject are XIth grade of IPA as experimental group and IPS as controlled group at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Surabaya, the data collection uses test (pre-test and post-test) as intrument to measure the result of students. The researcher gives pre-test and post-test. After giving the test, the researcher will count and compare the data (percentage of the results which is exceed the passing grade). After giving the test of both classes has an increas, based on, the percentage of both classes in post-test which shows that with socio-drama as the teaching method prove the hypothesis.Actually, there is a way to fix the result from the post-test of controlled class, but because of the timeless, the researcher is unable to teach again and the students are unable to do the test again because they have to do another lessons. Key word: reading, socio-drama, experimental and controlled class.
