Abstract
Keywords: Register, worker, metric kitchen Language is a medium in society that can help people communicate and interact each other. Variety of a language is a form that differs from other forms of the language systematically and coherently. The workers of Metric Kitchen use language variation, because they have their own registers which sometimes is strange for others that do not belong to their group. This study is intended to investigate the registers used by the workers of Metric Kitchen PT Kurnia Nata Kencana The researcher used descriptive qualitative research design to describe and discuss the registers used by the workers of Metric Kitchen PT Kurnia Nata Kencana. The informants taken from the workers of Metric Kitchen were 12 persons. To collect the data, the writer used observation and purposive sampling. To analyze the data, the writer used several steps as follows: (1) observing the workers in their daily conversation, (2) Recording conversation, (3) Selecting the data purposely for analyzing, (4) Transcribing the conversation. The result of the study shows that there are 30 registers, and there are 6 conversations between the workers. Finally, the writer suggests that this study can encourage other researchers to conduct better researches, especially in Sociolinguistics subject.
