                Abstract

                This research discusses about the imagery that applied in poems, the researcher focuses on “The Road Not taken” and “Stooping By Wood In A Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost. The first basic concept to consider in the poem is the usage of imagery to reveal the meanings in “The Road Not Taken” and “Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening”.The researcher uses several theories to analyze the kinds of imagery applied in two poems by Robert Frost. The researcher quotes the theories of some experts related to this research, they are : Klarer, Abrams, Perrine etc. The theories are about, poetry, imagery and meaning. This is a qualitative research, because the research no treatment as experimentation research. There are more than one imagery that applied in those poems, they are visual imagery, auditory imagery, kinesthetic imagery and tactile imagery. Beside that the researcher finds the total meaning in the poems, for the first total meaning in “The Road Not taken” is the choice about two roads in the speaker’s life, and the second total meaning in “Stooping By Wood In A Snowy Evening” is that the speaker wants to continue the journey to keep his promise. Key words: poetry, imagery, total meaning.
