Abstract

The character education strengthening program is one of the government's effortsespecially, the Ministry of Education and Culture in order to encourage the creation knowledge and awareness of school members in an effort to improve morale and education morals. Education is an activity of fostering a mental attitude in an effort to lead students from birth to reach physical and spiritual maturity, in interaction nature and its environment. Education is believed to be the most important instrument and strategies in achieving individual and social goals. Ki Hadjar Dewantara interpreted education as a guide, mentor, and directions for students so that they can grow into adults according to their potential and embedded self-concept in real self This study aims to determine the competence of a student's religious character and then apply it with audio-visual media. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research method. Through observation, interviews and documentaries. The data obtained were analyzed using data reduction techniques, data display, data validation, and inference. The results of the study show that 1) Students have very different religious character competencies 2) The teacher's efforts made to strengthen the attitude of the religious character of students in PAI subjects include the teacher always inviting tadarus then one by one then reading the meaning of the verse, students are given educational games by the teacher so that they are enthusiastic about learning, and students are given a motivation and enthusiasm to achieve their respective goals 3) The reinforcement results from audio-visual development here can help students to make them more aware of how important the meaning of religious character.
