Abstract
Slavery in colonial times was a multi-faceted occupation and performed in various forms and several forms of slavery, for example debt slavery, chattel slavery, domestic service, and military slavery. In this study the discussion of slavery and nationalism contained in these two poems is more prominent. This study aims to describe contents meaning of the poem. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method because the data are in the form of sentences and they are served descriptively. Data collection techniques was close reading in order to get deep meaning. The object of the data in this study is Africa poetry and Listen Comrades. This study focuses on term nationalism and slavery to answer the research question about how Nationalism and Slavery depicted in African and Listen Comrades. The result of this study is Diop represents his nationalism as African in several lines both of poem, and also slavery depiction found in several lines of poems.
