Abstract
The researcher analyzed Prabowo’s leadership behaviors as a president candidate in the interview with BBC News by using Illocutionary acts theory in interpreting hidden meaning of words. In this research, descriptive qualitative applied to analyze the data. The interview transcript is used as the data. The data categorized the leadership behaviors in which analyzed Prabowo created that created the acts and said what he meant by using illocutionary acts. Utterances occurred in the interview between Babhita Sharma and Prabowo Subianto which indicated the factors, such as grammar, grabbing turn-taking, and metaphors of rhetoric. All of them have important roles that can help the researcher identified how Prabowo Subianto can opened, deflected, interrupted, dominated, and repeated the utterances. Prabowo Subianto used the utterances that illustrated his vision, passion, confidence and image building. From the utterances, Prabowo Subianto managed political public relations which an individual actor for political purposes, through purposeful communications and action, seeks to influence and to build then maintain beneficial relationship and reputations with public to help support his vision mission and achieved the goals.
