Abstract

Keyword: Song Lyric, Conditional Sentence, Eleventh Grade Students. Grammar is one of the component language which must be mastered, in other to make the students can communicate and also understand the component of language. The researcher choses SMKN 1 JETIS Mojokerto for the research. The researcher as the teacher in the classroom used song lyric as a new media to teach Conditional Sentence for the eleventh grade students. The researcher tried to find out significant of difference in the students’ understanding on conditional sentence between the students who are taught by using song lyric and the students who are taught without using song lyric. In this experimental research, the researcher tried to answer one research question, in conducting the research, the researcher used experimental research design by collecting the data through giving pre-test, two times of treatments and post-test. Before giving pre-test, the researcher gave a try out test to another group. This research used two variables. The use of song lyric becomes independent variable and the students’ understanding on conditional sentence becomes the dependent variable of this research. The population and sample were XI of Teknik Elektronik Industri (Experimental group) and XI of Teknik Kendaraan Ringan (control group), consisting 30 students each group. The instrument used was test. In the end of the research, the data was calculated statistically using t-test to find out the significance in the students’ understanding on conditional. Then, it was found that tcount 8.938> ttable 2.042. It means that there was a significant difference in the students’ understanding on conditional sentence between students who are taught by using song lyric and who are taught without using song lyric. In conclusion, Song lyric is effective media that can improve students’ understanding on (conditional sentence).
