Abstract
This study examines the economic growth as a benchmark of a country's economic achievements. Economic growth is characterized by the increasing number of goods and services in a country in a given period. GNI per capita is the ratio to calculate how big the contribution of economic growth on income per capita of the population by comparing the GNP is constant with a population of districts/cities in East Java province indicators from the World Bank. The objective of the study amounted to 38 districts/cities in East Java, which consists of 28 counties and 9 cities from 2002 to 2006. Descriptive method of secondary data is processed. The results are mapped and sequence of GNI per capita districts/cities in East Java province are divided into four groups: (1) 1 to 10 top: City of Karachi, the city of Surabaya, Malang, Kab.Sidoarjo, Kab.Gresik, Mojokerto, Probolinggo, Kab.Tulungagung, Kab.Banyuwangi and the City of Madison; (2) 11 to 20 middle-upper: Kab.Probolinggo, Kab.Mojokerto, Kab.Lumajang, Kota Pasuruan, Kab.Tuban, Kota Blitar , Kab.Malang, Kab . Siitubondo, Kab.Sumenep, Kab.Magetan, (3) below 21 to 30 Medium: Kab.Jombang, Kab.Blitar, Kab.Kediri, Kab.Bojonegoro, Kab.Jember, Kab.Nganjuk, Kab. Pasuruan, Kab.Madiun, Kab. Lamongan, Kab.Bangkalan; (4) 31 to 38 Bottom : Kab.Ngawi, Kab.Sampang, Kab.Trenggalek, Kab.Bondowoso, Kab.Pamekasan, Kab.Pacitan and Stone Town. The order of 1 to 10 GNI per capita in the province of East Java, but from 11 up to 38 sequences per capita GNI per capita GNI in the East Java Province. Overall trend of GNI per capita districtcity and province of East Java is increasing, not decreasing. Generally indicates that economic growth districts/cities in East Java over the years continues to increase.
