Abstract
The utilization of technology in the field of education can make it easier to get information. The study's objectives are twofold: firstly, to analyze students' intrinsic motivation in online English learning through WhatsApp as a Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) platform secondly, to analyze the relationship between students'' intrinsic motivation and their learning achievements, utilizing WhatsApp as the MALL platform.This quantitative descriptive research examines English learners' intrinsic motivation using WhatsApp for Mobile-Assisted Language Learning. The study employs an adapted Well-being, Performance, and Intrinsic Motivation questionnaire (Amabile et al., 1995) to assess motivation levels. The research explores the correlation between students'' intrinsic motivation and English learning outcomes, using scores from submitted questionnaires. While a moderate level of motivation was observed, no significant correlation between motivation and learning output was found.This study emphasizes intrinsic motivation''s role in learning most exhibit moderate motivation. Highly motivated students benefit from WhatsApp''s flexibility, fostering commitment. Moderately motivated students value WhatsApp's community aspect. Low motivation students struggle, needing personalized support. No notable correlation (0.156) between motivation and learning outcomes, supported by non-significant p-value (0.457), confirming null hypothesis.The study's conclusion suggests that while motivation may not be a strong predictor of academic performance, other factors play a more dominant role in students' scores. Further research is needed to explore the complex interplay of these various factors that contribute to academic achievement.
