Abstract
The purpose of this research were to find out whether the Total Physical Response is effective to teach speaking, and to analyze is there any significant different between student who are taught Total Physical Response and student who are not taught Total Physical Response. This research used quantitative experimental design with the process of calculation used Software SPSS 21.0 version. The researcher took seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 17 Surabaya as a sample which consisted of 47 students. Experimental class that consisted of 23 students and control class that consisted of 24 students. To collected the data of this research, researcher used pre-test and post-test. The result of this research showed that, Total Physical Responses is effective in teaching speaking, and there were any significant effect between students who are taught Total Physical Response and student who are not taught Total Physical Response.
