Abstract
This study focused on the seven grade English final test based on national curriculum in South district Gresik. The researcher analyzed the appropriateness of the test according to basic competence and students levels, difficulty levels, discrimination power, validity, and reliability of test items. The object was the students’ score and the English final test. This study used exploratory sequential design of mixed method.The content of English final test was appropriate with the basic competence and assessment of ESL, but each items was not distributed equally. The difficulty level of the test is not distinguished. Two among three samples has the discrimination power. Moreover, the test items were valid and reliable. The result shown that the test items did not good enough to be conduct as multiple-choices test. That why the test items have the low quality into categorized in good multiple-choice test. The items of English final test in academic years 2016/2017 needs to be revise and modified to a better English test. Moreover, the teachers need to improve their ability in designing a good English test based on the characteristics of a good test.
