Abstract
Keywords : Sentence, utterance, style, speech style, frozen style, formal style, consultative style, casual style, intimate style. A speech is the vocalized form of human communication. To help everyone understand about speech style, this study is going to analyze the speech. Because speech is one of the importen thing in human life. This study is intended to analys the speech style of Obama in his speech in Indonesia. This speech is choosen because it is became the one of Obama’s best speech in his career. The statements of the problem in this study as follows ; which speech style occurs in Barack Obama’s speech in Indonesia and what kinds of speech styles are mostly used by Barack Obama in his speech in Indonesia. They will be analyzed in chapter 4. To finds the use of speech style, the study uses theories of Joos. This study is a qualititative, in which the study results the kind of style in the form of words rather than describes the number. The data are collected through library study in which any written material that supports the study . After analyzing the use of speech style, the study has found that there are several kinds of style that is use in the speech, such as frozen style, formal style, consultative style and casual style. And the most are the formal style. Since the used of speech style may help reveal the total style of speech. Obama’s speech in Indonesia may be understood as a speech that has several effects, such as understand about the kinds of speech style, and enjoy the speech in a different way.
