Abstract
This research was conducted in order to develop students’ speaking ability at eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Kutorejo through media picture. There were two objectives of this research are to describe: (1) the implementation of picture media in speaking class to eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Kutorejo; (2) the student improvement in speaking ability after having a class using picture media to the eighth grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Kutorejo. This research used a Classroom Action Research (CAR) was done based on the Susanto’s theory. The researcher did one cycle in which cycle consist of planning, acting, observating and reflecting. The finding of this research indicated the implementation of picture media was successfull since the criteria of success were achieved. The criterion was twenty six students could reach the target 75 for the score based on the KKM and the students become more active involved in teaching and learning process. The result of interview for the teacher after implementation showed that by using picture media students were active involved in the classroom. Key Words : Speaking, Picture
