Abstract
The writer analyzed Suroboyoan dialect words in the news program “Pojok Kampung” on JTV Surabaya by using theory of sociolinguistics in interpreting the real meaning of words. By using sociolinguistics, the writer could analyze presenter’s speech in the news program and found Suroboyoan dialect words which made them closer to the audiences. Sociolinguistics was a theory that study about the relation between language and society in daily social activity. In this study, descriptive qualitative applied to analyze the data. One episode news program “Pojok Kampung” on JTV Surabaya script as the data. The writer analyzed the data by translating Suroboyoan words into common standart Java and describing how those Suroboyoan words were used, why uses Surabaya dialect and how are viewer responses toward the news program “Pojok Kampung” on JTV Surabaya. The purpose of news program “Pojok Kampung” on JTV Surabaya used Suroboyoan dialect to establish and maintain good relationship with the audiences. Because of that reason, news program “Pojok Kampung” on JTV Surabaya became a favorite Surabaya’s people program. Key words: Pojok Kampung, Suroboyoan, Sociolinguistics
