Advisor I: Dr. Dwijani Ratnadewi, M.Pd., Advisor II: Armeria Wijaya, SS, M.Pd Question of this research consits of: what kinds of conversational maxim are violated in the utterances of maincharacter which related to the overprotective attitudes of main characters, how does the main character violate the conversational maxim related to the overprotective attitudes, why does the main character violate the conversational maxim related to the overprotective attitudes. The purpose of this research, namely: to classify the kinds of conversational maxim that are violated in relation to overprotective utterances, to describe the way of main character violates the conversational maxim that are related to overprotective to the minor character, and to explain the reason of main character violates the conversational maxim related to overprotective to the minor character. This research uses the qualitative research. The source of this research is the transcript of hotel transylvania film. To collect the data the researcher takes the following steps: watching movie, re-writing the subtitle, selecting the utterance, fragmenting dialog, and identifying the data of each fragment.In the step of data analysis consits of: description of fragment, classifying the kinds of conversational maxim, describing the way of the main character violates the maxim to the minor character, and explaining the reason of main character violates the maxim to the minor character. From the result of this thesis analysis can be concluded that there are utterances that contain violation of conversational maxim related to the overprotective attitudes between the characters. The main character violates his utterance because he does not want the minor character getting dangerous Key words: Violation of Conversational maxim, Overprotective, Characters
