Abstract

Teacher became an important part of education which share the knowledge to student, so it is important to understand the teacher’s knowledge and beliefs to the teaching model especially project based learning for reading and also the implementation of beliefs toward practices. This research is to describe novice teacher and experienced teacher beliefs and practice in project based learning for teaching reading. Qualitative design used in this research. The participant consist of two novice teachers and two experienced teachers. In-depth interview and classroom observation used to collect the data. The result represents that for generally novice teacher and experienced teacher has the same beliefs about project-based learning for teaching reading, however novice teacher has stronger belief about project-based learning for teaching reading than an experienced teacher. It happened because novice teacher has better knowledge about project-based learning than an experienced teacher. The knowledge also caused novice teachers practice well than an experienced teachers. On the whole, teacher’s beliefs about project-based learning for teaching reading has relation to their practices. Novice teacher and experienced teacher take positive beliefs in project based learning for teaching reading.
