Abstract

Key Words: Code Switching, Code Mixing, and Production Department This study uses a theory of sociolinguistics. This theory is used to find out code switching and code mixing occurs in PT. SEMESTA ELTRINDOPURA. This research wants: (1) to identify the form code switching and code mixing that often take place at production department of PT. SEMESTA ELTRINDOPURA by employees. (2) to describe how the employees use code switching and code mixing at production department of PT. SEMESTA ELTRINDOPURA. (3) to find the reasons why the employees use code switching and code mixing at production department of PT. SEMESTA ELTRINDOPURA. Descriptive qualitative is used in this study because this research is planned for qualitative research with natural background. The researcher will fully understand the phenomenon directly insist the data collector. It can be said that descriptive qualitative method is used to describe natural phenomenon such as code switching and code mixing which made by the employees in their talk with another. This research has four techniques to collect the data: recording, transcribing, selecting, and analyzing. The employees at production department of PT. SEMESTA ELTRINDOPURA often use code switching and code mixing. The code switching and code mixing in the form of word were: Indonesian-English, Indonesian-Javanese, and Javanese-English. The reason why the employees at production department of PT. SEMESTA ELTRINDOPURA did code switching and code mixing Javanese in other languages are: making easier to understanding, showing the employees ability, and there is no terms of words that available in Javanese or Indonesian.
