Abstract
The title of the thesis is “A Study of Code Switching and Code Mixing used in Indonesia Lawyers Club”. The research attempts to describe the form of code switching and code mixing used in Indonesia Lawyers Club. The form of code switching can be divided into two kinds that are based on situational and metaphorical code switching. The form of code mixing can be divided into six forms that are word, phrase, hybrid, word reduplication, idiom and clause. This research also attempt to describe the context of the using code switching and code mixing that used in Indonesia Lawyers Club. The context of code switching and code mixing are participant, setting, topic and function. The last, this research attempt to analysis the possible reasons why the lawyers or the guests who attend in Indonesia Lawyers Club used code switching and code mixing in their dialogue. The possible reasons of code switching and code mixing occurs in the dialogue in Indonesia Lawyers Club in order to show prestige or pride or maybe to show their ability using more than one language. Indonesia Lawyers Club is chosen because in that talk show the lawyers or the guest often use code switching and code mixing when they give their opinion. This research use some theories to answer the statement of the problems in chapter one. The research design of this research refers to the procedure of collecting data, classifying, identifying, analyzing and describing data. The main data of this research is taken from the dialogue in one of talk show on TV One that is Indonesia Lawyers Club. And the result will be present in chapter four. Key words: Code Switching, Code Mixing.
