Abstract
of Eighth Grades of SMP Al Islam Krian”. The statement of the problems are:(1) What kinds of error do the students make in writing narrative text?, (2) What is the most of errors students make in writing narrative text?. The purpose of the study are:(1)To identify the kinds error students make writing narrative text, (2)To describe the most of errors the students make in writing narrative text. The research design is descriptive qualitative, the subject of this study was the eighth grades of SMP Al Islam Krian which consists of 30 students who were chosen by using random sampling. Based on the analysis, it can be found that the types of errors the students make are misformation (54.5%), addition (8%), omission (32%), misordering(5.5%) in this case, misformation is the most frequency because many students not can apply the simple past tense on the sentences especially using correct verb in past form and using modals. Besides that, the interference of the students native language is also becomes the reason the students make errors. Key words: error analysis, narrative writing.
