Abstract
Teaching vocabulary is very difficult and complicated. Some of the teachers teach vocabulary by asking them to memorize the words. This way of teaching process makes the students get bored and difficult in memorizing new vocabulary. To overcome those problem, the writer offers the use of songs for teaching vocabulary as an interesting way to teach vocabulary, in order to create a fun and interesting atmosphere in learning process. In this study, the researcher makes these research question.(1) What songs are used for teaching vocabulary, (2) How are the songs are applied for teaching vocabulary to kindergarten student, and (3) How are the student’s vocabulary mastery of using songs to teach Vocabulary. The writer decided to use qualitative research as research design. Observation checklist, fieldnote and worksheet were used to collect the data. From the result of the study, the use of songs for teaching vocabulary helped students to increase motivation, enthusiasm, and to remember new vocabulary. Since songs was applied in English class especially in teaching vocabulary, it can be explained that this way of teaching is applicable and students gave good responses in it. The most students was very interesting and active in the class, the students felt extremly happy to learn English using songs and it was very suitable way in learning English it can be seen in the recording. The researcher conclude that the use of songs is valuable in teaching vocabulary. This method of teaching helps the teacher in creating an enjoyable situation in the class. It helps the students in understanding the lesson and remembering the new vocabulary. Keyword : Kindergarten, Songs, Vocabulary.
