Abstract

Ankle injuries are the second most common injury category after knee injuries in sports. A history of ankle injury is associated with an increased risk of osteoarthritis, joint instability, and decreased levels of physical activity. In addition, long-term ankle injuries can also cause disability, decreased quality of life and decreased joint function. This study aims to analyze the percentage level of ankle injury in professional athletes. This study uses a quantitative descriptive survey research method. The survey method is a quantitative research method used to obtain data that occurred in the past. A total of 30 respondents were involved in this study. Data collection to determine the history of ankle injury in athletes was carried out using a questionnaire in the form of a google form which was disseminated through social media. Filling out the questionnaire in the form of a google form is done at one time. The data analysis technique used descriptive quantitative expressions in percentages. The results of the analysis of the percentage level of ankle injury by gender showed that women had a history of ankle injury that was higher than men by 60.00% (18 people) and 40.00% (12 people). The results of the analysis of the percentage level of ankle injury based on sports (sports) show that artistic gymnastics has a higher history of ankle injury than basketball, football, and badminton, respectively by 36.67% (11 people), 26, 67% (8 people), 23.33% (7 people), and 13.3% (4 people). Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that women had a higher history of ankle injuries than men, while based on sports (sports) it was shown that artistic gymnastics had a higher history of ankle injury than basketball, football, and badminton.
