Abstract

This research is intended to reveal strategy and forces used by China and USA in Singer’s Ghost Fleet by using Sun Tzu’s Art of War. The reason why researcher chooses Sun Tzu as the main theory in analyzing this novel is because The Art of War still use by military system in every countries such as China where the military chooses to enhance the guerilla warfare with technology. The Art of War itself can be applied into several aspects in life such as medical aspect, politic and education. However, the researcher choose Sun Tzu’s Art of War to look for the strategy in Ghost Fleet and it is the essential way to look for the strategy since it was created as military purpose. Ghost Fleet has a unique pattern in putting the constellation of power between USA and China. History records that US Army always display the same pattern in war that is using the brand-new technology to destroy enemy. USA is well known for the extensive technology in military combat In Ghost Fleet novel, the pattern changes into a contrary of reality where USA used the guerilla warfare and China used modernization of weapon. By using Sun Tzu’s Art of War, researcher breakdown the forces use by both side to win the war. after the forces expose by researcher, the forces will support the variation strategy use by both USA and China.
