Abstract

Paul’s Wheel has proven as a good method in increasing students’ critical thinking. That’s method has been applied in school abroad, especially to teach in elementry school students. This way the researcher do research about the implementation of Paul’s Wheel Strategy to increase students’s critical thinking in reading.The objective of research is to find out whether the Paul’s Wheel Strategy is Effective in Increasing Students’ Critical Thinking in Reading Explanation Text and to know how Paul’s Wheel Strategy enhance students’ critical thinking in reading explanation text. This research uses Mix-Method type explanatory Sequantial Design. It is suitable with the research that has quantitative and qualitative data. The researcher analyze the result of pre-test and post-test using quantitative analysis, while students’ critical thinking was analysis qualitatively. The subjectare 10th grade Mipa 1 and 2 at SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Surabaya. The result shows Paul’s Wheel is Effective In Reading Explanation Text, and It is also increased Students’ Critical Thinkingin eight aspect that show in percentage they are : Purpose, Question At Issue, Implication, Cosequences, Interpretation and Inferences, Assumption, Concept, Information and the last is point of view.
