Abstract
Writing is one of skills that be needed in language learning so the students must be learnt it. It is basic skill as important as speaking, reading and listening. The researcher focused on teaching writing descriptive text using Edmodo Application at seventh grades of junior high school in SMP Muhammadiyah 10 Surabaya. The purpose of this research is to know how the effectiveness of Edmodo Application in teaching writing descriptive text and how the students’ response about Edmodo Application in learning process. The researcher used quantitative method with true experimental design. The data were gathered through pretest and posttest and questionnaire. The researcher also chose two classes as the sample which is Experimental class and Control class. After all the data got, the reseacher calculated the data to know effective or not. Based on the final score in paired test using Edmodo application shows that effective to help the students in writing descriptive text. The result is 0,10>0,06 so it means large effect. Furthermore, based on the students’ response, it shows that most of students agree that Edmodo Application can be used in learning. The students are interesting and can make new atmosphere for them so it can be called effective. Keywords: Writing, Descriptive text, Edmodo Application.
