Abstract
komprehensif.

Irrational antibiotic use is one of the main factors contributing to the increasing incidence of antibiotic resistance. Low public knowledge regarding antibiotic use may lead to inappropriate medication practices, such as using antibiotics without proper indications, discontinuing therapy prematurely, and using antibiotics incorrectly. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of patients and the level of knowledge among outpatients regarding the use of oral antibiotics at Mojo Community Health Center, Surabaya. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive design and a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected in February 2026 from 95 respondents selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire assessing knowledge of antibiotic use that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis and presented as frequency distributions and percentages.
The results showed that the majority of respondents were female (64%), aged 36-45 years (36%), had completed senior high school education (53%), were housewives (47%), and used amoxicillin (95%). The respondents’ mean knowledge score regarding the use of oral antibiotics was 4.63 ± 1.59. Based on the knowledge
classification, 49 respondents (52%) had poor knowledge, 31 respondents (32%) had moderate knowledge, and 15 respondents (16%) had good knowledge. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that patients’ knowledge regarding the use of oral antibiotics at Mojo Community Health Center, Surabaya, remains relatively low. Future studies should expand the study population, analyze factors influencing patients’ knowledge, and employ more diverse data collection methods to obtain
more comprehensive findings.
