Abstract

Feminism is a desire to achieve gender equality. It is equality determiner status of social and politic. Woman asks the equality to have same the rights as a man. The purpose of this research is to understand about feminism portrayed in the lives of women Eighteenth century. It is also to appreciate this novel and get a better perception of the idea of feminism This research used descriptive qualitative method. This research was analyzed the data in explanations. The source of the data is taken from Kate Chopin’s novel The Awakening. The data was collected by reading and nothing the whole story. The technique is nothing some dialogs and narrations which contains of liberal feminism. The result of this research is that Edna’s character is protagonist. The action of this character is has relationship with liberal feminism. Key words: Feminism, Character, Liberal Feminism
