Abstract

Key Words: Teacher’s mark, Scoring Students Composition, Jacob’s rubric. This study is concerned with teacher’s marks in student composition because at glance it is not accurate when given on students’ composition exercise. Teacher’s mark on students’ work will be analyzed, and the result of analysis will be compared with teacher’s score before analysis. It will know the accuracy of teacher’s scores that given on student’s composation exercise. Jacob’s rubric theory “ESL Composition Profile” (1981) is used for analysis scoring composition. The method of this study is descriptive methode. The data of study taken from students’ composition about “Experience In The Holiday”. Teacher ask to students to make a composition and teacher will mark students’ composition. Those data will be analyzed to know the accuracy of teacher’s marks on students’ composition work. The result of this studyare 64% teacher do a mistake on scoring student’s work and just 36% teacher correct for scoring. It happen because teacher does not use rubric, but teacher just uses her feeling for giving mark. It can prove because teacher does not make a lesson plan on the learning activies. On the lesson plan teacher can make a scoring rubric composition to give mark on students’ work. Finally, teacher can use or make a scoring rubric composition as a postulate to give mark on students’ work.
