Abstract
This study is intended to find out speech style used by the main characters in Frozen movie that are Elsa and Anna. The research problems of the study are: 1.) What are the kinds of language styles used by the main characters in the Frozen movie, 2.) How do the main characters use the language styles in the Frozen movie, 3.) Why do the main characters use the language styles in the Frozen movie. The data of this study are obtained through Frozen movie script which focuses on the main characters’ utterances. In analyzing the data the writer uses theories by Martin Joos (1976) that style is classified into five types based on the degree of formality, those are: frozen, formal, consultative, casual, and intimate styles. The writer found there are five types of speech style used by the main characters, those are: frozen style, formal style, consultative style, casual style and intimate style are used in the movie. The findings are frozen style in one (1) dialogue, formal style in five (5) dialogues, consultative style in six (6) dialogues, casual style in eight (8) dialogues, and intimate style in three (3) dialogues.
