Abstract

The researcher used theory of psychology and personality as a major problem in this study, because these were considered as an important point from the novel The Story of My Life. The problems in thisstudy were the personality and the structure of personality as seen from Helen Keller. The purposes of study described Helen Keller’s personality and analyzed the construction of Helen Keller’s structure of personality. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative research method. It was important to describe the statements of the problem through the dialogues, actions, and events in the story. The result of the study concluded that Helen Keller had four personalities, those were a proficient, a confident, a brave, and a struggle woman. Moreover, the research found one of literary works that had the structure of personality in Helen Keller. Those were the id, the ego, and the superego. The relationship between the ego and the id in her mind happened because her emotion was incompatible with her thought. The ego got energy and pressure from the id that her ego restrained and controlled the encouragements. So she got her pleasure that was caused by the id, but it could not be released.
