Abstract
The aims of this research are (1) to describe female character’s conflicts in Maupassant’s “A Mother of Monsters”, “Useless Beauty”, and “A Widow” (2) To find out the influence of conflicts upon female character’s structure of personality in Maupassant’s “A Mother of Monsters”, “Useless Beauty”, and “A Widow”. The method of this research is qualitative research. Then it uses theory of conflict, structure of personality and psychoanalytic feminism as the supporting theory. These theories are used to answer of statementsof the problem. The researcher found that on the female character in those short stories faced same internal and external conflicts. Their internal conflicts are; fear, guilty feeling, and disgrace. Hence, they also against other character and social rule that occurs in their circumstance.They do not want being mother; nurturing and victims of love. In “A Mother of Monsters” conflicts give influence upon female character’s structure of personality; the id dominates rather than an ego and superego. Hence, conflicts in “Useless Beauty” and “A Widow” give influence upon female character’s structure of personality: the superego dominates rather than the id and an ego.
