Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation in learning vocabulary drilling method for the students with special needs at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Surabaya and analyze the challenges faced in implementing vocabulary drilling method for the students with special needs at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Surabaya. The analytical method used in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis method. The analytical tools used are in the form of observation instruments, field notes and teacher interviews. The results showed that in the application of the drilling method for teaching vocabulary for students with special needs at SMP Muhammadiyah 2 Surabaya, the teacher used the type of repeat drilling. The teacher's challenges found from this study include student focus during the teaching and learning process, teacher's patience when applying the drilling method, different character and mood of students because they have their own limitations.
