Abstract
Introduction: Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 merupakan penyakit kronis yang dapat menimbulkan berbagai komplikasi kesehatan, yang seringkali mempengaruhi kualitas hidup pasien. Stres psikologis yang berkepanjangan pada pasien DM tipe 2 dapat mempengaruhi pengelolaan penyakit dan kesejahteraan umum mereka. Mekanisme koping yang efektif diperlukan untuk mengatasi stres yang terkait dengan kondisi ini, Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan tingkat stres dan mekanisme koping yang digunakan oleh pasien DM tipe 2 yang mengalami komplikasi, Methods: Penelitian ini menggunakan studi deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, Sampel terdiri dari 57 pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 dengan komplikasi yang menjalani pengobatan di Puskesmas Gatling Surabaya. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan kuesioner yang mencakup skala stres Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) dan skala mekanisme koping Brief COPE. Analisis data dilakukan dengan statistik deskriptif untuk menggambarkan gambaran umum stres dan mekanisme koping. Result: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar pasien mengalami tingkat stres yang sedang sebanyak 29 orang (50.9%), akibat manajemen penyakit dan komplikasi yang ada, namun juga penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden menggunakan mekanisme koping adaptif sebanyak 34 orang (59.6%), seperti penyelesaian masalah dan pencarian dukungan sosial. Discussion: Pasien Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2 dengan komplikasi cenderung mengalami tingkat stress sedang dan mekanisme koping adaptif, terutama koping berorientasi pada masalah, berperan penting dalam mengurangi tingkat stres. Penanganan yang melibatkan strategi koping yang adaptif dapat membantu meningkatkan kesejahteraan psikologis pasien dan pengelolaan kondisi mereka. tetapi juga pada dukungan emosional dan psikologis untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup penderita.

Prolonged psychological stress in patients with type 2 DM can affect their disease management and general well-being. Effective coping mechanisms are needed to overcome the stress associated with this condition. This study aims to describe the level of stress and coping mechanisms used by patients with type 2 DM who experience complications. Methods: This study used a descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 57 patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with complications who underwent treatment at the Gatling Surabaya Health Center. Data were collected using a questionnaire that included the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS) stress scale and the Brief COPE coping mechanism scale. Data analysis was carried out with descriptive statistics to describe the general picture of stress and coping mechanisms. Results: The results showed that most patients experienced moderate levels of stress as many as 29 people (50.9%), due to disease management and existing complications, but the study also showed that most respondents used adaptive coping mechanisms as many as 34 people (59.6%), such as problem solving and seeking social support. Discussion: Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus with complications tend to experience moderate levels of stress and adaptive coping mechanisms, especially problem-oriented coping, play an important role in reducing stress levels. Treatment involving adaptive coping strategies can help improve patients' psychological well-being and management of their condition. but also, on emotional and psychological support to improve the quality of life of sufferers.
