Abstract

Transportasi darat memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung mobilitas masyarakat dan distribusi barang di Indonesia. Kendaraan truk sebagai pengangkut logistik sering menjadi tulang punggung transportasi nasional, namun juga kerap terlibat dalam kecelakaan lalu lintas akibat kegagalan sistem pengereman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa dan membandingkan gaya pengereman serta sistem kerja antara rem hidrolik dan rem full air brake pada kendaraan truk.

Penelitian dilakukan di UPTD Pengujian Kendaraan Bermotor Tandes, Kota Surabaya, dengan menggunakan alat Brake Tester merk Autonomus Type Auto–B–15T. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa sistem rem full air brake memiliki daya pengereman yang lebih besar, efisien, dan aman untuk digunakan pada kendaraan truk dibandingkan dengan sistem rem hidrolik, terutama dalam kondisi beban berat. Sementara itu, rem hidrolik tetap unggul dari sisi kesederhanaan sistem dan kemudahan perawatan untuk kendaraan dengan kapasitas sedang. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi bahan pertimbangan dalam pemilihan dan perawatan sistem pengereman agar keselamatan transportasi darat di Indonesia semakin meningkat.

Land transportation plays a vital role in supporting community mobility and the distribution of goods throughout Indonesia. Trucks, as the main mode of freight transport, contribute significantly to the nation's economy but also account for many traffic accidents, often caused by brake system failures. This study aims to analyze and compare the performance and braking force between the hydraulic brake system and the full air brake system used in trucks.

The research was conducted at the UPTD Motor Vehicle Testing Center in Tandes, Surabaya, using a Brake Tester of the Autonomus Type Auto-B-15T. The results show that the full air brake system provides greater braking power, efficiency, and safety for heavy-duty vehicles. On the other hand, the hydraulic brake system offers simplicity and easier maintenance, making it more suitable for medium-capacity vehicles. The findings of this research are expected to serve as a reference for drivers, technicians, and relevant institutions in selecting and maintaining appropriate braking systems to enhance road safety and vehicle reliability.
