Abstract

Chronic diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2 is a disease of the endocrine metabolic system that impairs a person's quality of life. In the meantime, The incidence of diabetes complications will rise in parallel with the prevalence of DM. One of the most prevalent microvascular conditions in people with type 2 diabetes is diabetic neuropathy (DN). Hypertension is a major and changeable factor in the occurrence of diabetic neuropathy. Compared to people without hypertension, people with type 2 diabetes who also have hypertension are more likely to develop DN. The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between blood pressure levels and diabetic neuropathy in type 2 DM at Siti Khodijah Sepanjang Hospital. This approach combines purposive sampling with a cross-sectional methodology. SPSS version 26 with the chi square test was used to analyze the data. This study involved 68 people. The participants' features included being primarily female (80.88%), being between the ages of 51 and 70 (79.6%), having had diabetes mellitus for more than five years (51.5%), consumed insulin or anti-diabetic medications orally (95.6%), and having a history of hypertension (50%). The levels of blood pressure and the incidence of diabetic neuropathy in hospitalized type 2 DM patients were found to be significantly correlated based on the results of the ci-squre statitik test (p < 0.04). Patients who suffer from grade 1 hypertension had the most diabetic neuropathy. Meanwhile, patients who have optimal, normal and normal-high blood pressure do not had diabetic neuropathy. According to this study, there is a correlation between blood pressure levels and the occurrence of neuropathy diabetic.
