Abstract

Background: Enhanced Recovery After Cesarean Surgery (ERACS) is a recent approach in perioperative management aimed at accelerating recovery and reducing postoperative pain. This method is compared to the conventional approach (non-ERACS), which remains widely used. Objective: To analyze the differences in the effectiveness of ERACS and non-ERACS anesthesia methods in reducing postoperative pain in patients undergoing Cesarean section. Methods: This study employed an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 96 post-CS patients divided into two groups based on the anesthesia method received: ERACS (intrathecal bupivacaine with morphine) and non-ERACS (intrathecal bupivacaine with intramuscular pethidine). Pain levels were assessed using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) at the second postoperative hour. Results: The chi-square test analysis showed that patients who underwent the ERACS method experienced significantly lower pain levels compared to the non-ERACS group (p<0.05). Conclusion: The ERACS anesthesia method is more effective in reducing postoperative pain and accelerating recovery after sectio caesarea compared to the non-ERACS method. The implementation of this method could be recommended in perioperative management for Cesarean section to enhance patient comfort and promote faster recovery.
