Abstract
Pembelajaran IPA memerlukan pendekatan dan model pembelajaran yang mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan 1) Mendeskripsikan keterlaksanaan pendekatan Deep Learning melalui model Problem Based Learning dalam pembelajaran IPA di SMP Muhammadiyah 12 Surabaya. 2) Mendeskripsikan motivasi belajar IPA setelah pendekatan Deep Learning melalui model Problem Based Learning. 3) Mendeskripsikan peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis setelah penerapan pendekatan Deep Learning melalui model Problem Based Learning. Penelitian ini menggunakan Nonequivalent (Pre test and Post test) Control Group Design. Subjek penelitian siswa kelas VII SMP Muhammadiyah 13 Surabaya tahun pelajaran 2025/2026. Hasil Penelitian keterlaksanaan pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan Deep Learning melalui model Problem Based Learning dengan rerata modus sangat baik. Analisis angket motivasi peserta didik pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 80,474 % dengan kategori sangat baik, sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol sebesar 76,29 % dengan kategori baik. Hasil analisis Uji N-Gain posttest kemampuan berpikir kritis pada kelompok eksperimen sebesar 0,71693 dengan kategori tinggi, sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol sebesar 0,537406 dengan kategori sedang. Keterlaksanaan pembelajaran pendekatan Deep Learning melalui model Problem Based Learning berada pada kategori sangat praktis. Pendekatan Deep Learning melalui model Problem Based Learning mampu meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMP Muhammadiyah 13 Surabaya.

Science learning requires learning approaches and models that can increase learning motivation and critical thinking skills. This study aims to 1) Describe the implementation of the Deep Learning approach through the Problem-Based Learning model in science learning at Muhammadiyah 12 Junior High School in Surabaya. 2) Describe science learning motivation after the Deep Learning approach through the Problem-Based Learning model. 3) Describe the improvement in critical thinking skills after the application of the Deep Learning approach through the Problem-Based Learning model. This study used a Nonequivalent (Pre-test and Post-test) Control Group Design. The research subjects were seventh-grade students at Muhammadiyah 13 Junior High School Surabaya in the 2025/2026 academic year. The results of the study showed that the implementation of learning using the Deep Learning approach through the Problem-Based Learning model had a very good average mode. The analysis of the student motivation questionnaire in the experimental group was 80.474% in the excellent category, while in the control group it was 76.29% in the good category. The results of the N-Gain posttest analysis of critical thinking skills in the experimental group were 0.71693 in the high category, while in the control group they were 0.537406 in the moderate category. The implementation of the Deep Learning approach through the Problem-Based Learning model was in the very practical category. The Deep Learning approach through the Problem-Based Learning model was able to increase the learning motivation and critical thinking skills of students at Muhammadiyah 13 Junior High School Surabaya.
