The irrational use of antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance, which has become a global health problem. Lack of knowledge and inappropriate behavior in the use of antibiotics can increase the risk of antibiotic resistance. Health science students, as future healthcare professionals, are expected to have good knowledge and behavior regarding the rational use of antibiotics. This study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and behavior of health science students toward antibiotic use at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya. This study used a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 230 respondents selected using a random sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents had a good level of knowledge with an average score of 8.51 ± 1.26, where 179 respondents (77.83%) were categorized as having good knowledge. The respondents' behavior toward antibiotic use was also mostly categorized as good, with 135 respondents (59%). The analysis showed that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge and the behavior of students toward antibiotic use. In conclusion, good knowledge can influence more rational antibiotic use behavior, thereby helping to prevent antibiotic resistance.
