Abstract

LLatar belakang: Kecemasan merupakan salah satu gangguan mental yang paling umum terjadi, khususnya pada mahasiswa kedokteran yang menghadapi beban akademik tinggi. Kecemasan yang dialami mahasiswa dapat berdampak pada berbagai aspek kehidupan termasuk pola makan. Perubah an pola makan akibat kecemasan berpotensi mengganggu status gizi dan kesehatan mahasiswa secara keseluruhan. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat kecemasan dengan pola makan mahasiswa di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain observasional dengan pendekatan cross- sectional. Besar sampel yang digunakan adalah 172 mahasiswa aktif Angkatan 2022, 2023, dan 2024 yang dipilih menggunakan teknik random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) dan Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (DEBQ). Penelitian ini menggunakan uji korelasi Spearman. Hasil: Berdasarkan hasil uji korelasi Spearman, diperoleh nilai signifikansi (p) <0,001 dengan koefisien korelasi (r) sebesar 0,334. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara tingkat kecemasan dengan pola makan mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya dengan arah korelasi positif dan kekuatan sedang, yang berarti semakin tinggi tingkat kecemasan makan semakin terganggu pola makan mahasiswa. Kecem asan menilai perilaku yang dialami mahasiswa mempengaruhi pendapat dan penilaian diri sendiri terhadap kebiasaan makan, sehingga mahasiswa yang cemas senderung menilai perilaku makannya secara negatif dan menggunak an makan sebagai strategi koping emosional.

Introduction: Anxiety is one of the most common mental disorders, particularly among medical students who face high academic demand. Anxiety experienced by students can affect various aspects of life, including eating patterns and self - perception regarding dietary habits. Changes in eating behaviour due to anxiety have the potential to disrupt students nutritional status and overall health. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between anxiety levels and eating patterns among students at the Faculty of Medicine, Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya and to examine the role of self-perception in this relationship. Methods : This study used on observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 172 active students from the class of 2022, 2023, and 2024 selected using random sampling. The instruments used were the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and the Dutch Eating Behaviour Questionnaire (DEBQ). Data were analyzed using Spearman’s correlation test. Result : Based on Spearman’s correlation analysis, a significance value (p) of <0,001 was obtained with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0,334. Conclusion : There is a significant relationship between anxiety levels and eating patterns among medica; students at Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya, with a positive correlation of moderate strength , indicating that higher anxiety levels are associated with more disturbed eating patterns. Anxiety also influences students’ self-perception and self-assessment of their own eating habits, as anxious students tend to evaluate their eating behaviour negati vely and use food as an emotional coping strategy.
