Abstract
Latar Belakang: Merokok merupakan kebiasaan yang dapat menimbulkan dampak negatif bagi kesehatan melalui proses inflamasi akibat paparan zat berbahaya dalam asap rokok. Respons inflamasi dapat diamati melalui kadar C-Reactive Protein sebagai penanda inflamasi dan jumlah leukosit sebagai indikator respons imun tubuh. Paparan asap rokok, baik secara aktif maupun pasif, berpotensi memengaruhi kedua parameter tersebut. Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan status merokok dengan kadar C-Reactive Protein dan jumlah leukosit pada nelayan di Arosbaya Madura. Metode: Penelitian observasional analitik dengan pendekatan cross sectional pada 44 responden yang terdiri atas 22 perokok aktif dan 22 perokok pasif yang dipilih menggunakan purposive sampling. Pemeriksaan C-Reactive Protein dilakukan dengan metode aglutinasi lateks, sedangkan leukosit diperiksa menggunakan Hematology Analyzer. Analisis data menggunakan uji Mann-Whitney dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,05. Hasil: Rata-rata kadar C-Reactive Protein pada perokok aktif sebesar 0,05 ± 0,213 dan pada perokok pasif sebesar 0,00 ± 0,000. Rata-rata jumlah leukosit pada perokok aktif sebesar 7,05 ± 2,16 × 10³/µL dan pada perokok pasif sebesar 6,10 ± 1,71 × 10³/µL. Hasil uji Mann-Whitney menunjukkan nilai p untuk C-Reactive Protein sebesar 0,317 dan leukosit sebesar 0,082 (p>0,05). Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara status merokok dengan kadar C-Reactive Protein dan jumlah leukosit pada nelayan di Arosbaya Madura. Meskipun rata-rata kadar C-Reactive Protein dan jumlah leukosit lebih tinggi pada perokok aktif, perbedaan tersebut tidak bermakna secara statistik.

Background: Smoking is a habit that can have negative effects on health through inflammatory processes caused by exposure to harmful substances in cigarette smoke. Inflammatory responses can be assessed through C-Reactive Protein levels as an inflammatory marker and leukocyte count as an indicator of the body's immune response. Exposure to cigarette smoke, whether actively or passively, may affect these parameters. Objective: To determine the relationship between smoking status and C-Reactive Protein levels and leukocyte count among fishermen in Arosbaya, Madura. Methods: This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach involving 44 respondents, consisting of 22 active smokers and 22 passive smokers selected using purposive sampling. C- Reactive Protein was examined using the latex agglutination method, while leukocyte count was measured using a Hematology Analyzer. Data were analyzed using the Mann–Whitney test with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The mean C-Reactive Protein level in active smokers was 0.05 ± 0.213, while in passive smokers it was 0.00 ± 0.000. The mean leukocyte count in active smokers was 7.05 ± 2.16 × 10³/µL, whereas in passive smokers it was 6.10 ± 1.71 × 10³/µL. The Mann–Whitney test showed p-values of 0.317 for C-Reactive Protein and 0.082 for leukocyte count (p > 0.05). Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between smoking status and C-Reactive Protein levels or leukocyte count among fishermen in Arosbaya, Madura. Although active smokers had higher mean C- Reactive Protein levels and leukocyte counts than passive smokers, these differences were not statistically significant.
