Abstract
========================================================================================
The background of the “sound horeg” phenomenon as entertainment with high powered loudspeakers has rapidly developed in society, especially in East Java.
At an intensity of 135 dB, it can trigger a stress response in the body through the active hormonal and adrenal systems, ultimately affecting thrombopoiesis. This study aims to compare platelet counts in Rattus norvegicus exposed to noise with those in unexposed animals. This study employed a true experimental design with 16 male Rattus norvegicus divided into two groups: the control group and the treatment group. The treatment group was exposed to sound noise with an intensity of more than 85-95 dB for 3 hours a day for 5 days. The platelet count was measured using a haematology analyser, and the data were analysed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, Levene’s test, and the Independent Samples T-Test. The research results showed that the average platelet count in the treatment group was 612.25 × 10³/µL and in the control group was 724.38 × 10³/µL. However, the Independent Sample T-Test yielded a significance value of 0.308, indicating no statistically significant difference (H₀ accepted). This study concludes that exposure to sound-induced noise at 85-95 dB for 3 hours per day over 5 days does not significantly affect platelet count in Rattus norvegicus.
