Abstract
Diskusi: Semakin rendah tingkat pendapatan keluarga, semakin tinggi kemungkinan ibu hamil mengalami kecemasan.

Background: Anxiety in pregnant women is an emotional symptom that can adversely affect the health of both the mother and the fetus if not properly addressed. The level of family income is suspected to be related to this anxiety, considering the various costs required during pregnancy, ranging from antenatal care (ANC) and nutritional needs to childbirth preparation and baby necessities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between family income levels and anxiety levels in pregnant women at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Surabaya. Method: The research uses a quantitative method with an observational-analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 47 pregnant women in their second trimester, selected using a purposive sampling technique. Family income was measured based on the category of the Surabaya City Minimum Wage (UMK) for the year 2026, while the level of anxiety was assessed using the Perinatal Anxiety Screening Scale (PASS) instrument. Data analysis used univariate and bivariate methods, specifically the Spearman Rank Correlation test. Results: The results show that the majority of respondent families (61.7%) have an income below the Surabaya Minimum Wage, and nearly half of the respondents (46.8%) experience moderate levels of anxiety. The Spearman Rank Correlation test produced a significance value of p = 0.003 (p ≤ 0.05) with a correlation coefficient of rs = - 0.422, indicating a significant negative relationship between family income levels and the anxiety levels of pregnant women. These findings indicate that the limitation of family income is perceived (appraisal) by pregnant women as a barrier in meeting the needs of both the mother and the fetus, thereby increasing the risk of anxiety. Discussion: The lower the family's income level, the higher the likelihood that pregnant women will experience anxiety.
