Abstract

Stunting was one of the nutritional problems that has not been resolved and has a
high prevalence in Indonesia. This affects the growth and development of infants who
have an impact on the future. The role of the family determines the nutritional status
of toddlers. the role of families who pay less attention to their toddler's diet has an
impact on the food pattern was not in accordance with the nutritional needs of the
child so that it impacts on the health status of children under five.
This Research design used analytic method with approach of Cross Sectional. Method
of Sampling was used by Simple Random Sampling. The Independent variable was
role of family and dependent variable was food pattern. Research of data was taken by
using questioner. After data of questioner gathered tabulation later; then and in test
by using test of Spearman Rank with the level of meaning α = 0, 05.
The results of the study showed that most family roles were 42 families (48.8%), and
most of the eating patterns of children under 5 years were in the category of 38 children under five (44.2%). From the results of statistical analysis with the Rank Spearman test, the value of ρ = 0.014 <α = 0.05. The role of the family was related to the
diet of a 5 year old child. Providing health education to families was very important
to improve family knowledge in feeding children so as to avoid stunting.
