Abstract

Nurses’ performance is one of the factors that determine hospital performance. The performance of nurses
is influenced by two factors, namely nurses’ motivation and job satisfaction. However, not every hospital pays
attention to these two factors; as a result, there is decreasing performance of the organization, which has also
been experienced by Soewandi hospital in Indonesia. This study explains about the correlation between nurses’
job satisfaction and motivation, and nurses’ performance at Soewandi hospital in Indonesia. The study used a
cross-sectional design. There were 120 nurse respondents as samples in this study. Technique used for taking
the sample was simple random sampling. Data collection technique used was questionnaire and interviews.
Result of research using statistics test of Spearman’s rho found correlation between nurses’ motivation and
nurses’ performance with the value of p = 0.003 and the value of contingency coefficient of 0.556. Meanwhile,
the correlation between nurses’ satisfaction and nurses’ performance has p = 0.000 with contingency coefficient
of 0,661. The results of this study showed that the performance of nurses in the hospital is determined by two factors, namely nurses’ job satisfaction and nurses’ motivation.
