Abstract
Islamic-based scrapbook media is a learning media which contains stories that usually
occur around the students' environment and the Islamic values that are packaged along with
illustrated stories with Muslim characters in them. The scrapbook media becomes an
intermediary between teachers and students in delivering messages or information in
recognizing the causal process that occurs, how to reflect patience, responsibility and trust
and honesty which are part of Islamic values that are introduced and stimulated through
scrapbook-based media Islamic. This research was motivated by the fact in the field that the
cognitive abilities of children aged 5-6 years reach at the preoperational stage where at this
stage children begin to use words and images that are used for mental portrayals that go
beyond the relationship of information to physical actions. This was in line with the use of
Islamic-based scrapbook media to help stimulate aspects of cognitive development. This
study used a quantitative approach with pre-experimental research design. This study used a
pre-experimental research design pattern in the study of One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design
using the Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test, which in this study only used one class group studied.
There were 3 stages in this research i.e. Pre-test, Treatment (giving treatment), Post-test.
Based on the results of the research, Islamic scrapbook media can influence the cognitive
development of children aged 5-6 years.
